Last Wednesday Piawakawaka and kea had the chance to do an amazing race.It was really fun but first we had to get in our film festival groups and get our ipads. In my group were Jen,Suila,Shawnee-lee,Tehillah and me. 

 

When we all gathered our staff for the amazing race we started we saw people around this tree so we went there but we left because there were too many people there.

 

 Then we saw another place so we headed there. It was cool  we had to put it in the right order a e i o u it was pretty easy so we got our first clue very fast.

 

Next task was math we were doing plus times and division and write the answer in Maori that was easy to and got our next clue. We looked around one more time and the clue told us about a family tree and we knew what it was because that was the first one we went to so we ran over there. It was very hard at first but got easy at the end.

 

After that we had to finish and go back to the court to see who won so Mr told anyone if they got 8 clues no one got 8 clues but one group got 7 clues it was Manus group who won because they got the most points and for the prize they got ice blocks.

Back in 1885 ,there was a powerful protective space girl who liked to go up into space. 

 

She liked to protect her alien friends from humans. She is a human but they love her and trust her. She has family back on earth but she spends more time in space.

She likes to see the beautiful colors in the galaxy. And she likes to visit planets like Mars, Saturn and other cooler planets. 

 

She enjoyed playing with the little ones and playing fun games with them. She always thought about living in space but she alway thought about her family back on earth. But one evening when she was back on earth something bad happened. 

 

They had been attacked again not by humans, something much worse, a big humongous octopus!. The octopus’s tentacles were destroying their territory. And they went to hide and then that’s when the space girl arrived she thought she was too late and thought they died.

 

At the end, she saw a flash so she went to go check It was all of her alien friends. She was so happy that they were alive. And She gave them a big hug and gave them a place to stay. The end.

I was playing outside with my little sister Lily and I heard a weird noise coming from my back door. So I slowly walked to the door. When I put my hand on the handle I got even more scared. When I opened the door I could see a whole different place. I took one big step inside and I was in the middle of the dessert. when I looked back the door was already closed.

 

First I was panicking but then I saw a little shadow coming my way I thought that I was the only one here. but I couldn’t see because of the hot burning bright sun. when it came closer it WAS A TALKING! monkey. When he was talking I couldn’t believe my eyes. he said his name was Sam. He told me he would take me out of the desert if I gave him bananas. “I can only give you bananas after you show me the way out of here Sam” I said. He said he will need time to think about it…

 

Next a few minutes later he came back and told me he will. But he said  on one condition you have to give me 30 bananas he said” I said” fine because I didn’t want to stay even longer. Wait let me tell you something did you actually think I was going to give 30 bananas to this selfish monkey. I don”t even have any money but will .

 

We were walking I felt guilty and kind of selfish of myself.  He was talking about his family back home. He said he needed some food for them and then that’s when I stopped and thought about those little monkeys.I felt so bad for what’s been happening with Sam’s family. so I just kept walking.

 

A few hours later I saw a door just like our door back home. I said to Sam that’s my way back home I said” he was so happy for me I told him to wait here I will be right back. He said Okay. When I came back I gave him 50 whole bananas inside a bag. I forgot we had banana trees so I thought it was a good idea if I gave all of our bananas for his family he was so placed and gave me a big huge hug at the end.

 

Yesterday the 17th of august the girls and boys went to the windmill tournament. but first we had to get changed into our netball clothes. When we were done we started to warm up at school but when the bell rang we went inside .after mr called the roll Ana came and got us to have a talk in waka tahi when we were talking about our plan i found out that i was the captain of the team. i was so happy and grateful. So after that we walked over to the bus. On the way there I could feel my heart beating i felt so nervous but I kept on thinking about my team.When we arrived I got off the bus. I could feel the breeze coming towards my face i could also see how good the other teams were. It was scary watching other people play when we were warming up. I got even more nervous. 

 The first team we vs was map tui the first half was easy because jenthuel kept getting the ball in the hoop and pia kept passing the ball back to us to get it in. other teams were hard but it came to an end. We made it to the semi finals. The last round I felt so nervous but I knew if I didn’t try harder i’m going to let my team down. So that’s when the first half was finished we weren’t winning but i still had hope. And then that’s when we started again i got ready to run for the ball, and then that’s when the game started. We got the ball and jenthuel droped back, she got the ball and we got it in the hoop but i had to sub with nisi they had 5 more minutes left. when that 5 minutes was finished that’s when it was all done we came 4th place and i didn’t care if we lost. I was so happy for all of us there were 56 teams and when we came 4th i was so proud of everyone

one day i was walking around my local park. and i saw a bench so i sat down. Then a lady came over and she sat down next to me and she looked nice so i just started to talk to her. a few minutes later she got up and left but when she got up i saw

 

 

$1000!!! dollars I was so shocked and surprised but i was thinking should i get up and give it to her or should I leave it and give people money who need it more than me. So i just kept it, i was so guilty of what i did i was thinking about the nice things I could do to help people in need. the first thing i did. i went to charity i wanted to donate money for the children because i will love to see there smiles on there faeces i was so happy for what i did i could till that they where so so grateful when i left i went home but on the way there i saw a man on the streets. So I asked if he was OK he said he needs some where to stay

 

so i just gave him some money i told him to stay here i will go get some food for you to eat he was so grateful and pleased with what i did He asked what I could do in return i said it’s OK just leave it. and he was telling me how he ended up on the steers he was saying that he had got fired from his boss for no reason i felt so bad. after all of that i went to go pick up my friends lutepa and pia and we went to the mall and then I returned the stuff i buyed and put back the money

 

i have a question what would you do if you found $1000 dollars on a park bench

On Wednesday 7th  of June Piwakawaka went to the Maritime museum in the city. It was a very long bus journey.While we were driving our way to the Maritime museum we saw lots of cool things like the Humongous Long Sky tower . Then we saw a lot of cool boats in the beautiful shiny ocean.

First, we arrived at our destination we saw a giant sailboat and I thought about what it would look like if I went inside.Then I took a big step in the museum and could see such beautiful things already   

Next, we went inside this room where 2 staff members introduced themselves their name was Lee and Niki . So after that group 2 went to look around the museum like scientist. Group 1 stayed behind and learned about where Polynesians Traveled around the world. They went to Tonga, Samoa and plenty of other islands in the Pacific Ocean. Then we played a game where you have to go North,East,South,and West in Maori, north is Raki east is Whitinga south is Tonga west is Tomokanga             

When we were done with the game we started to build some cool boats. So first we started off by doing the bottom of the boat. Then we put the main part of the boat on. After when we where finished we swapped around so group 1 went to look around the museum and group 2 came back and did the same thing. I was in group 1 so when I was looking around the museum I saw so much cool and amazing things. Then, we sat down and made this thing could ´lashing´ where you have to wrap the rope around the stick three times. Then you have to make a plus shape like this + then you have to get the rope and go over and under until the rope is done. When you are done you have to let the rope go and it will drop to the ground. It looked like a flower! That’s when we looked around the museum. at 12:30 we went to look at this amazing cannonball. It sounded like a gun shot in the sky.

Lastly, we went inside this room where we watched a movie the movie was showing us an example how Polynesians travestied to Aotearoa when we finished we went to look around the museum more my group saw some statues and copied their pose and took some cool photos.

After that we got some lunch and left the museum. On the way to school we played some games like if you get the most waves from people you win, then we tried to make them laugh, when we got to school we went and ate some yummy food it was so cool and amazing I wish I can go back to the maritime museum(=

On Monday Piwakawaka did an experiment about wind vanes first we started off by getting a tray of materials. in the tray was a square piece of paper, straw, cup and play dough then we started by writing down North,East,South and West on our paper

 

Next we got our straw and cut down a split on both sides. So the triangle and square could fit. 

 

After that we got a pencil and stabbed it in our cup and put our pencil through the cup then we got our playdough and put it under the cup so it can be stabled.         

 

Lastly we got our pin and poked it through the straw and to make it touch the rubber then we went outside to test our wind vane. but when we went outside there was no wind  so we just came back inside hoping that it would work next time. in the mean time they were using the fan to make the wind vane move
